An Associate Board Member Program (Program) is an invaluable asset for the Credit Union. Associate Directors are full, governing Board members, yet they play a highly influential and persuasive role on the Board. The Program strengthens the Board’s renewal process by: 1) Affording Associate Board members valuable exposure and on-the-job training, to become thoroughly oriented should they ultimately join the Board as a full, governing Board member (Board member); 2) Allowing the Board to confirm that the Associate Board member is a good fit prior to nominating or appointing the Associate Board member for full Board membership; and 3) Ensuring that the Board has a bench of potential Board members at the ready should unexpected vacancies occur.
