Volunteer Education & Development Program Policy for Nonprofits
Volunteer education and development is an important Organization imperative. The Organization’s Volunteers are essential to effective governance, and they must be well informed and up to date on governance and industry best practices, any regulatory guidelines and fiduciary obligations.
This Policy outlines a tiered approach for the Organization’s Volunteers, beginning with 1) an initial Onboarding Program for new Volunteers; 2) assignment of a Mentor as a component of the Onboarding Program; and 3) a Continuing Education Program that encourages Volunteers to obtain additional educational opportunities. The Organization provides Volunteers with the support, funding and access to a broad array of relevant learning opportunities for professional development, as well as institutional and industry knowledge across all three of the above tiers.
