Immediate Past Chair Job Description for Nonprofits

The role of the Past Chair shall be filled by the outgoing Board Chair (Chair). The Past Chair is a valued member of the Board whose Board experience can be a continued asset to the Chair, the Board, the Chief Executive Officer or Executive Director and the Organization. It is imperative, however, to clarify the roles between the Chair and the Past Chair to ensure the understanding that the Past Chair is no longer the leader of the Board.
