Board Vice Chair Job Description for Nonprofits

The role of the Vice Chair is to be in active learning mode at all times, preparing themselves to take on the role of Board Chair (Chair). The Vice Chair is to perform the duties of the Chair in the absence of or as requested by the Chair. The Vice Chair also spearheads special Board initiatives, such as Board member education, orientation and training, as well as other initiatives as directed by the Chair and/or the Board.
