Board Meetings Policy for Nonprofits
Board members have the collective responsibility of governing and leading the Organization, in constructive partnership with the Chief Executive Officer or Executive Director. Board meetings, special meetings and committee meetings are a central component to their collective decision-making process, as they provide the opportunity to have open and candid discussions relevant to the Organization’s governance, strategic and fiduciary oversight and, ultimately, take formal votes within Board meetings to lead the Organization into the future. Further, the Organization’s Board-level committee meetings afford Board members the opportunity to delegate the Board’s work, research issues and topics more fully, and increase engagement and trust between and among Board members and Senior Management.
