Board Covenant for Credit Unions
Gaining the commitment of all your Board members to support your credit union and fully execute their role as a credit union Board member is key to your credit union’s success. While Board member job descriptions, orientation training and full onboarding programs that all outline Board member roles and responsibilities are important first steps in this process, it is critical that you specifically call upon your Board members to explicitly declare an understanding of and a commitment to their roles and their responsibilities.
Using a Board Member Covenant document can be an effective tool toward this end. Note that such covenants are not designed to be a formal contract between your Board members and the credit union – rather they are a clear delineation of expectations for everyone involved.
